Is the Fourth of July is a good time to visit Treasure Island, Florida for fireworks displays? Well in a word; absolutely! The entire Tampa Bay area is surrounded by fireworks displays and the entire family can be shocked and awed by the lights, flashes and thunderous sounds of terrific celebration. The big question then is where are the best firework displays while staying at the Eiko’s Beach House in Treasure Island?
Gulfport
This town is an enclave which is carved out of St. Petersburg. Walking around in downtown Gulfport is like taking a time machine straight back to the 1940’s. An art deco casino is situated downtown and on the 4th of July you and your entire family are treated to not only fireworks but the entire festival surrounding July 4th.
At the marina, a parade with red, white and blue themes prepare you for the run off to the fireworks. In the meantime, children and grownups alike can participate in a sand sculpture contest.
There are plenty of open air bars where patrons are entertained by live music and cool, refreshing cocktails. Also, if you make a reservation, we suggest you dine at Pia’s Trattoria; an excellent Italian restaurant in Gulfport . The ingredients used in their food is all natural and ask for al dente (firm not over boiled) pasta as they are one of the few Floridian Italian restaurants that can accomplish this task.
Fireworks begin at 9 pm and the background of Tampa Bay makes an excellent setting. Gulfport is roughly a 15 minute easy drive from Eiko’s Beach House and well worth a visit even if it is not the 4th of July.
Reddington Shores
Reddington Shores is another hot spot for a fireworks display on the beach. This is a short 5 to 7 minute drive from the luxury Eiko Beach House.
While the family prepares for the fireworks event, we suggest you try the unpretentious Broke N Bored Grill. Locals know this as a hidden gem and while there, we suggest you try the fish spread as an appetiser. And if you like seafood you must try the Coconut Crusted Black Grouper…it is out of this world.
Should your dog be part of the family, you are in luck as their patio is dog friendly! Fireworks start around 9 pm and explode with glorious color over the Gulf of Mexico.
Treasure Island
However should you be staying at the Eiko’s Beach House, you are in luck. Treasure island has its own firework display!
For visitors parking at Treasure Island Beach, Public Parking is set at $15 per car so fit as many people in as possible. After natures own firework display with its gorgeous sunset over the Gulf of Mexico, buckle up for the main event.
The fireworks proudly burst over the Treasure Island Beach sky’s and the setting, sounds and hypnotic lashes of the fireworks put you in the mood to continue the celebration. However, there is no reason to fear as Treasure Island boasts numerous bars including CJ’s on the Island, Caddy’s On The Beach and of course the world’s famous Gators Café and Saloon Treasure Island.
Back Home
After the parades, fireworks, and dinner, we suggest you continue with your own after party at the Eiko’s Beach House. In the back you can light your own July 4th bonfire in the outdoor fireplace. Sip a cool drink while listening to the sugar cane whisper gently in the breeze, while the sound of waves breaking at the beach beckon you to stay outside and celebrate. While relaxing it’s time to plan tomorrow’s activities and maybe even book next years holiday at Eiko’s Beach House in Treasure Island, Florida.
