While enjoying a stay at the luxury Eiko’s Beach House in Treasure Island, Florida at times there is a need for meat rather than seafood. If this urge strikes you, fear not as there are plenty of restaurants around that can cater to your carnivorous desire. However while there are plenty of restaurants which serve steak, actually most do, here are five of our favourites steakhouses near Treasure Island which almost never disappoint.
Harold Seltzer
Harold Seltzer comes from a family of butchers and restaurateurs originally from Montreal, Canada. They made their way down to Florida and Harold’s grandfather Sam made his mark and reputation in the Tampa Bay Area and their St. Petersburg location is less than a 10 minute drive from Eiko’s Beach House.
Harold Seltzer is exactly what you would expect from a told school traditional steakhouse. They age their steaks for 35 days assuring the meat is truly tender. Steaks are hand cut and care is taken to assure quality meals. One of our go to orders would be the Prime Rib which I like medium rare. However the boys enjoy the Bone-In Ribeye which they claim never disappoints. Appetizers are plentiful and filling so beware!
This is one of the best steak restaurants where you get good value for your money. Additionally we have found on the rare occasion we were not delighted with one of the dished, be sure to tell the waiter and in our experience the problem is corrected quickly and with a smile.
1200 Chophouse
Another favourite is 1200 Chophouse located just 10 minutes south of the Eiko’s Beach House on St. Petersburg Beach. This location can be easily missed as you drive past it on the way to Don Cesar or Fort De Soto.
This steakhouse is good, really good and they do not take reservations so first come, first served. Get here early. What do you order? Everything is good but if you love seafood and love steak give the Surf and Turf a chance.
The lobster is cooked to perfection and your steak is prepared to your liking. Don’t want lobster, no worries, get the filete as it melts in your mouth. However, sealubbers note it is not only steak that taste great here, the sea bass is fantastic. If the wait is short, we suggest you take it and experience 1200 Chophouse.
Beau and Mo’s Italian Steakhouse
Beau and Mo’s Italian Steakhouse located in downtown St. Petersburg and is a 15 minute drive from Eiko’s Beach House. Entering this small but well laid out restaurant presents a theme of what one would expect from a cool mobster movie.
But what about the food? The Porterhouse which we order is always cooked to perfection, medium rare. This paired with garlic mash is delectable. Our boys have been impressed with the Chateaubriand for 2 and almost had too much to eat at one sitting. Expect large portions for this pricy but well worth it steakhouse. On birthdays it is hard to choose between this the other steakhouses mentioned in this blog.
Blue Fugo
For a more off beat steak and an Asian twist we would recommend Blue Fugo. Instead of steak and mash potatoes, think steak and sushi. Does it work? Heck yes. Enjoy a plate of sushi and then dine on mouth-watering steak or chicken prepared on the robotayaki grill.
This is not a traditional steak house however families, groups and just couples enjoy the ambiance and Blue Fugo is situated only 10 minutes from Eiko’s Beach House so we suggest you give it a try.
Sea Salt Grille
Our final recommended steak restaurant is Sea Salt Grille located in Indian Shores roughly 15 minutes drive north of Eiko’s Beach House. This restaurant is located on the intercostal waterway and the views are spectacular for most seating in this restaurant. A modern and warm feeling embraces you as you enter this restaurant and the smell from the grill gets your mojo going!
We strongly suggest the T-Bone which is perfectly prepared on the super hot grill and suggest you try the calamari with its tasty satay (peanut) sauce. Occasionally we try to tackle the 40 oz Tomahawk but usually it beats us and we end up leaving some behind. This restaurant gets very crowed especially on weekend and only serves dinners so reservations are strongly recommended.
While dining out on steaks is a great way of having a special evening, another special evening may be grilling your own steak in the back tropical garden of Eiko’s Beach House. No need for reservations, parking or driving. You chose the wine pairing or a delicious tea infusion. No need for baby-sitters just a steak or two with a baked potato, some corn on the cob and a bottle of your favorite red wine. Rather than other diners share the experience with the dolphins, sea gulls and pelicans while you leisurely plan your next day in paradise at Eiko’s Beach House in Treasure Island, Florida.
