While every day at the luxury Eiko’s Beach House in Treasure Island, Florida is perfect for lazy luxury, sometimes the kids need a little more action.

Well we have a solution for you…..mini golf!

While large, theme Park-like  miniature golf “courses” exist in Orlando and Tampa,  why bother traveling that far when we have some fantastic courses nearby!

Here are 3 of our favourites.

Smuggler’s Cove Adventure Golf

Smuggler Cove Adventure Golf in Madeira Beach (with another branch in Indian Shores,) is a pirate themed attraction with an obligatory pirate ship, waterfalls and caves.

Players can navigate the themed attractions and compete against one another or against the house should they get a hole in one at a “secret hole” and win a free game. The cost for this adventure is about $13 per person over the age of 12 with discounts for younger children.

The key point of interest for many of the visitors to this attraction both in Madeira Beach and Indian Shores, is feeding the alligators! Each player (for an additional cost) can use cane fishing poles to feed live alligators.

Polynesian Putter

Further down in St. Petersburg Beach is Polynesian Putter. This is a more traditional and less elaborate coarse and generally easier to play.

However, easier means less themed decor and possibly easier for young children to play. The strong point about this miniature golf course is its location by the restaurants of St. Petersburg Beach, it could be a great follow-up to lunch or dinner before heading home to the Eiko’s Beach House. A fee of $6 applies so you get value for money but with fewer frills and no alligators!

Congo River Golf

If more frills and excitement are required, then we suggest a 25 minute drive north to Clearwater to play at Congo River Golf on US 19. For $13 per person your gang of explorers can play a terrific themed miniature golf course, feed alligators, mine for gemstones and thoroughly enjoy the ambiance of a safari.

Adults and children play a fun but challenging course with waterfalls, caves and assorted themed décor to make the players feel they are in the heart of Animal Kingdom in Disney.

Coming Home

After a fun and challenging game of miniature golf, it’s time to return to your own 19th hole at Eiko’s Beach House. The whole family can kick up their feet and enjoy the refreshing waters of your own private swimming pool. Later on, relax in the heated outdoor whirlpool  tub with your own pirate lantern which shines the way to the porch overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. While sipping a cool drink, the family can review the day’s events, argue over who really won the match and plan tomorrow’s day in paradise.
