Coming to Eiko’s Beach House in Treasure Island is always relaxing. Sitting by the pool or going dolphin or manatee spotting in the Gulf of Mexico adds to the thrill of the holiday. One of our personal favorite things to do while staying at the Eiko’s Beach House is to enjoy ice cream on the warm summer evenings. The following is our top five list of the best ice cream in Treasure Island.

The Shake Shop

The Shake Shop is walking distance from Eiko’s Beach House or a short two minute drive down Gulf Boulevard if you’re feeling lazy. Other than being conveniently close, this parlour stays open late (until 10pm or 11 pm depending upon the day). So no matter the time of day, you can always find yourself some sweet, frozen goodness!

We like the creamy ice cream they cheerfully serve and Eiko has been known to enjoy an entire banana split without sharing! She also likes their banana milk shakes which is just one of their many delectable shakes they serve. The servers are always friendly and even long lines tend to move quickly.

For visitors during the day, this shop is located very close to the beach so after cooling off during the walk to the Shake Shop you can then slip into the refreshing Gulf of Mexico for a swim to work off the pesky calories.

Super Scoop

Further down Gulf Boulevard but still in Treasure Island is Super Scoop. What differentiates Super Scoop from other ice cream parlours on the beach? Homemade waffle cones which you can smell even before you set foot into the premises. These cones are possibly even better than the cold ice cream which it is served with.

Speaking of ice cream, we recommend you try the hot fudge sundae which rivals the homemade waffle cones as our number one item on the menu.

We also like to try different flavours when visiting and while pistachio ice cream is one of our all-time favorites, we urge you to at least sample the salted caramel ice cream. It’s so good that our allegiance to pistachio is being challenged!

Larry’s Ice Cream and Gelatos

Larry’s Ice Cream and Gelatos in St. Petersburg Beach is worth a short drive to both visit and sample. For the adventurous visitors we suggest you try the strawberry parfait; this could or should be Larry’s signature dish.

Another delicious, yet far less cold, item on the menu is the mini donut. This sneaky little creation is sometimes offered to patrons as they wait for counter service. We love them so much, we always end up bringing a batch home with us.

Ideally, they are fresh out of the oven and if so you will be in for a treat. Larry’s boast of 80  flavours of ice cream and we plan to try them all during our visits to the area but it may take us a year or two to get this done.

The Amish Creamery Company

The Amish Creamery Company is located a few minutes by car from Eiko’s Beach house in Madeira Beach. Their homemade ice cream is delectable and we enjoy the strawberry chocolate ice cream along with the standard pistachio

Another flavor we tried and loved was the blueberry cheesecake which somehow really works well. Along with ice cream they sell homemade fudge, popcorn along with other goodies. The price for the ice cream is a little more expensive than other locations but with this in mind, we suggest you give it a try.

Sugar Daddy’s

Sugar Daddy’s is located on the John’s Pass boardwalk and advertises over 60 flavours of ice cream, one of them being lemon lavender!

They serve both hard and soft ice cream and offer a gluten free selection to choose from. One of their specialties is the typhoon which tastes divine.

There is no real place to sit inside so buy your ice cream, also get some coconut patties and take a short walk back to Eiko’s Beach House, which is just over the bridge.

Back Home After Trying the Best Ice Cream in Treasure Island

Most of the ice cream parlours mentioned above have limited or no seating inside so you will need to eat on the run or bring your dessert back to the Eiko’s Beach House. If you picture the scene of the family enjoying cool, tasty ice cream on a sultry evening watching the sunset from your private porch overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Doesn’t this certainly seems like a private paradise? You can have it all at Eiko’s Beach House on Treasure Island, Florida.
